Infinix Partners With Dixon To Manufacture Laptops in India

Posted on 18 August 202319 September 2024 by Paul Gwajime

Infinix is partnering with Dixon Technologies to produce Infinix-branded laptops in India. This move comes following India’s recent ban on the importation of laptops, tablets, all-in-one PCs, and servers, so as to promote locally manufactured products and reduce dependency on imports.

India, under its newly revitalised production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for IT hardware wants to boost the domestic manufacturing of products in the country, with its “Make in India” and “Self-Reliant India” campaigns at the forefront.

Dixon Technologies is an Indian multinational electronic manufacturing services company based in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The company is known for its innovative solutions and high-tech manufacturing capabilities. It has about 17 manufacturing units in India which have all been contributing to the local markets, and as well, contributing to the Indian government’s aim of making India a global manufacturing hub.

Infinix entered the Indian laptop market in December 2021 with the launch of the INBook X1 series laptop. Though for now the Transsion-owned company still imports its laptops from China, sources familiar with the situation expect the deal to be finalised by mid-September 2023.

With the deal done, Infinx will be able to meet the demands of the ever-growing Indian market, at the same time aligning itself with the country’s vision to promote locally manufactured products and reduce dependency on imports.
