In 2024, Infinix emerged as the most searched smartphone brand in Nigeria and Pakistan, according to Google’s Year in Search. Thanks to its budget-friendly pricing, innovative features, and strategic marketing, Infinix dominated search trends, surpassing major competitors like Apple, TECNO, Redmi, Vivo, and Samsung.
Google’s Year in Search highlights global and local trends each year, providing insights into popular topics, emerging technologies, and consumer interests. This data showcases the growing interest in new technologies and sought-after trending products, an area where Infinix performed well.
Despite economic challenges and stiff competition from other smartphone makers, including brands like TECNO and itel—both under Transsion Holdings—Infinix maintained its strong market presence. Let’s take a closer look at Infinix’s performance in Nigeria and Pakistan.

Infinix Dominates Search Trends as the Most Popular Smartphone in Nigeria

Infinix ranked as the most frequently searched smartphone brand in Nigeria for 2024. While Apple’s iPhone 16 topped the list, Transsion’s Infinix secured the second spot and had more smartphones featured than any other brand.
Transsion Holdings has been dominating the African smartphone market for some time now. In 2024, it maintained its lead with a 51% market share. Samsung followed with 19%, Xiaomi held 11%, while realme and OPPO accounted for 5% and 4%, respectively.
With such market dominance, it’s no surprise that Transsion brands, including Infinix and TECNO, occupied six of the top 10 most searched smartphones in Nigeria for 2024.

However, when you compare the trends between 2024 and 2023, you will notice a difference, especially among the Transsion brands.

In 2023, Transsion had 8 smartphones from Infinix, TECNO, and itel occupying the top 10 slot. Fast forward to 2024, that number has dropped to 6, with itel completely vanishing from the top 10.
TECNO which had three smartphones among the top 5 in 2023, slipped down the popularity list with two smartphones in 2024 while Redmi, a sub-brand of Xiaomi jumped from holding one slot in 2023 to three slots in 2024.
These changes attest to Xiaomi’s aggressive market expansion in West African countries, which has seen the Chinese giant surge 38% in annual growth, while also expanding its market share in Africa from 9% in 2023 to 11% in 2024.
Infinix’s Growing Popularity in Nigeria and Pakistan
Nigeria and Pakistan are two of the largest smartphone markets in Africa and South Asia, where affordability and performance play a crucial role in consumer preferences. Infinix, known for offering feature-packed smartphones at competitive prices, has gained a strong foothold in both regions.
The rising interest in Infinix signifies a shift in consumer preference toward affordable yet high-quality smartphones. With growing competition from brands like TECNO, Xiaomi, and Samsung, Infinix’s ability to maintain its momentum will depend on continued innovation, strong after-sales service, and further market expansion.
